Why choose a TENCEL™ Lyocell duvet cover?

Soft and fluid, a TENCEL™ Lyocell duvet cover envelops the duvet with a supple drape and a particularly smooth feel.

Made from wood cellulose fibers, this material naturally promotes moisture management and breathability in bed linen. A breathable TENCEL™ Lyocell duvet cover thus adapts to temperature variations throughout the night, maintaining a comfortable sensation without artificially seeking a cooling effect.

Its soft and silky surface offers a different feel from many cottons, which are often drier to the touch.

At Maison CÉTOILE, we chose TENCEL™ Lyocell for its combination of softness, breathability, and fluidity: bed linen designed to make evenings more enveloping.

TENCEL™ Lyocell or cotton duvet cover: what does it feel like in bed?

The difference is first felt to the touch. While cotton often provides a drier feel and a more structured drape, TENCEL™ Lyocell stands out with its smooth surface, fluid drape, and silky softness.

A TENCEL™ Lyocell duvet cover thus more naturally follows the movements of the duvet and provides a supple, enveloping sensation. Its ability to manage moisture also contributes to maintaining a more comfortable sleep environment throughout the night.

The choice primarily depends on the desired sensation: the familiar hold of cotton or the fluidity and softness of TENCEL™ Lyocell.

What size duvet cover should you choose?

The size of a duvet cover should first be chosen according to the dimensions of the duvet itself, but also according to the width of the bed and the drape you prefer.

A 140 × 200 cm duvet cover generally suits a single duvet. A 200 × 200 cm size offers more room on a single or compact bed. For double beds, 240 × 220 cm and 260 × 240 cm sizes create a more generous drape on either side.

To preserve an elegant drape, always choose a duvet cover that matches the exact dimensions of your duvet.

What duvet cover drape should you choose for your bed?

Beyond the dimensions of the duvet itself, the width of the bed influences how the duvet falls. The wider the duvet is in relation to the mattress, the more generously it will drape along each side.

On a double bed, a fuller drape creates a more enveloping effect and dresses the sides of the bed more generously, while a shorter drape gives the bed a lighter, more structured silhouette.

The choice therefore depends both on the dimensions of your bed and on the overall look you would like to create in the bedroom.

Is a TENCEL™ Lyocell duvet cover breathable?

TENCEL™ Lyocell has a good ability to absorb moisture and release it again. This moisture management helps create a more comfortable sleeping environment as temperature and humidity change throughout the night.

A breathable material is not necessarily a material that actively “cools”. The sensation also depends on the duvet, the temperature of the bedroom and the rest of your bed linen.

This is why we prefer to describe TENCEL™ Lyocell as a breathable duvet cover rather than a “cooling” duvet cover.

What colour duvet cover should you choose?

A duvet cover occupies a large visual surface in the bedroom. An ivory duvet cover brings light and pairs naturally with neutral shades, wood and natural materials.

A navy blue duvet cover or anthracite shade gives the bed greater depth, while sage green creates a softer, more botanical atmosphere.

The duvet cover can be paired with pillowcases and a fitted sheet in the same shade for a harmonious look, or combined with different colours to create subtle contrasts across the bed.

How can you recognise a high-quality duvet cover?

Thread count is a useful reference, but it is not enough on its own to determine the quality of a duvet cover. Fibre quality, weave, fabric weight and finishing details all play an important role in its feel and drape.

With TENCEL™ Lyocell, the quality and origin of the fibre are also important considerations. At Maison CÉTOILE, we select TENCEL™ Lyocell from Lenzing to create TENCEL™ Lyocell bed linen with a smooth surface and fluid drape.

Finishing details also contribute to the appearance and quality of each piece, from the regularity of the stitching to the care given to its construction.

To create a harmonious bed, pair your duvet cover with our TENCEL™ Lyocell pillowcases and TENCEL™ Lyocell fitted sheets.
